This trial period allows us to gather data on usage patterns and finalize competitive pricing, which will likely involve an annual plan with a fair-use limit on transcription minutes. Free Voicemail Transcription

With this update, 3CX introduces free voicemail transcription, making it easier to review missed messages without listening to entire voicemail recordings. Voicemails will automatically be converted to text, saving you time and helping you stay organized.

Call Transcription Free for Enterprise Users Until 2024

Transcription and analytics require significant computational resources, powered by GPU-equipped cloud servers. As these resources are scarce and costly, 3CX is providing enterprise users with complimentary access until the end of 2024. This is an excellent opportunity to explore AI-driven transcription at no cost for a limited time.

For 3CX, this serves as a chance to gather real-world feedback and refine our pricing model to ensure it provides maximum value to users. Starting in 2025, transcription—and later, analytics—will be part of a separate license upgrade. But for now, you can test these advanced features without any financial commitment through the end of 2024.

Granular Control Over Transcription Settings

3CX now provides even greater flexibility with transcription settings. Administrators can manage transcription at the department level, enabling or disabling transcription for specific departments, queues, or ring groups. This feature allows businesses to prioritize transcription for key areas such as sales or customer support, while excluding less critical areas like internal accounting. For example, sales teams can use transcription to track customer interactions, ensuring data is focused and relevant.

How It Works

To use call transcription, call recording must be enabled, as only recorded calls can be transcribed. Once a call is recorded, the data is securely sent to our cloud servers for transcription. After processing, the transcription is returned, and the recording is automatically deleted. This process leverages advanced cloud GPU technology, essential for handling the demands of transcription, which standard servers are unable to manage efficiently.

Call Control Web-Based API

The updated Web-Based Call Control API streamlines live call management. It supports:

  • CRM-initiated calls
  • AI-guided workflows for incoming calls

Previously complex setups that required advanced developer skills are now accessible to a wider range of users, saving time and resources.

Expanded Features and Integrations

Update 4 also brings the following enhancements:

  • Device Updates: Support for Yealink AX83H WiFi.
  • Provider Updates: New VoIP providers including Orange (FR), BT (UK), VoiceMeUp (CA), and SWISSCOM ENT (CH).
  • Generic SMS Support: Added SMS configuration for selected supported providers.
  • Record Prompts via Phone: Users can now record prompts directly through the phone interface across all areas.

New Call Scripts

How to Upgrade to V20, Update 4

If you have already installed the release candidate, there’s no need to update again.

If you haven’t installed the RC, upgrading is easy! Here’s how to do it:

  • For existing installations: From the admin console, select the latest update: “New 20.0 Update 4 Release”.
  • For a new on-premise installation:
    • For Windows, use the 3CX Windows Installer and follow the 3CX Windows Installation Guide.
    • For Linux, download the 3CX ISO and follow the3CX Linux Installation Guide.
    • Start a new cloud deployment here.
