SSL Certificate Expiry for V18 U9A or earlier & V20 U2 or earlier

Ensure your 3CX system is up to date if you are not using the latest version.

Starting February 24, 2025, 3CX will replace the SSL certificates needed for PBX activation. If you are on an older version, your system will continue to function, but after this date, you won’t be able to renew the license if any changes are made. We recommend updating your system as soon as possible. Continue reading for more details on the next steps.

1. Log in to your 3CX system.
2. View the version number displayed on the Dashboard.

If your system is running V18 Update 9B (Build 35) or V20 Update 3 (or later), no action is required.

If your system is on V18 Update 9A (Build 31) or earlier, or V20 Update 2 or earlier, follow the steps below to update.

If your system is running V18 Update 9A or earlier, you should update to at least V18 Update 9B. V18 Update 9B is safe to install, as it resolves the SSL certificate issue and extends license activation until September 2025, providing more time for those planning to upgrade to V20.

If you’re on V20 Update 2 or earlier, updating to the latest version is recommended.

No action is needed for systems already running the latest versions.

• License Validation Blocked: You won’t be able to renew your license key if any updates are made.
• System Continuity: Your 3CX system will continue to function, but an update is necessary before February 24, 2025, to prevent any potential issues down the line.

Updating your 3CX system is quick and easy:

For Version 18 9A or earlier:

1. Log in to your Management Console.
2. Go to the Updates section.
3. Select and install the latest version, V18 Update 9B.

For Version 20 Update 2 or earlier:

1. Log in to the Admin Console.
2. Go to System > Updates.
3. Select and install the latest version.

We highly recommend updating as soon as possible to avoid any last-minute issues.

If you’re still using Version 18, there’s good news. The update V18 Update 9B is now available, extending your license activation until September 2025. While this provides temporary functionality, we recommend planning your upgrade to Version 20 to ensure you receive full support and access to the latest features.
